Thanks!

If you recall from Spring Grove , I think I made use of some of your 'unbranded kit'...went on to have lessons at Jim Marshalls and eventually bought my Premier kit from his shop in Hanwell....I remember watching you play your drums in the front room of your parents house.... seems many years ago...best wishes..alan

Mick,
As I live and breathe, who would have thought that I would find you after all these years. Kept in touch with Chas of course, even appeared on Chas N Dave's 'This is Your Life' with Aamon Andrews in 1985. Spent 5 years dong a morning radio show in Hong Kong and produced a number of records for various Canadian folk and country artists. Linda and I are still an item after 43 years. I teach ad writing at a college in Vancouver and work. Son David is a drummer and has toured India, the States and Canada. We really must chat about all the places we have been since we threw flour bags at unsuspecting Welshpeople back in the day. Hope to re-aquaint, relive and rebuild on an illustrious time in pop music history, Mick.
Your friend and fellow muso,
Ken L

Hi Mick, well here's a surprise.Just been looking at the web site and the ref:to the Dominators!! Brought a tear to the eye. I emailed Ritchie a few weeks ago on his birthday to remind him that next year will mark the 50th anniversary of his first (professional) gig at the Kings Head Twickenham,a year or two before you joined us in the Doms.
You weren't really THAT loud, I think that it was just something that Alan"Dumplings"came up with because he couldn't see that you and RB were in it as a career. Understand you live in Twickenham now.Backing on to my old street!!! I was given your tel.no. by Jerry Bloom.I met him in the Fountain just after the RB book came out.Put him straight on many of his inaccuracies!!
Could well phone you just before I come to Twickenham for my next bout of babysitting!!!!!
Look after yourself mate, Bob Danks.

mick:
Hello Bob,

This is the mother of Blasts From The Past!!!!
Good to hear from you. Tell Alan I'm even louder now by multiples of many!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still too loud for the Dominators!

Give me a call when you can.

Regards

Mick

Hi Mick! Is this one of your efforts? Couldn't see it mentioned on the site. USA-only single on Warner Bros 5626, released April/May 1965. Artist listed as, Teddy & The Clock-Watchers. A-Side is "You Were Made For Me", a rather optimistic cover of the Freddie & The Dreamers hit, which was already climbing the USA charts at the time. B-Side is an instrumental, "Kinky", composed by,
Lawrence (Derek?)- Hodges (Chas?)- Weaghell (?)- Underwood (Mick?).
Produced in London for Kim Fowley Productions by Derek Lawrence.
Any memories of this disc? And do you know who Weaghell was ?!
Cheers! Russ

mick:
Hello Russ

Interesting! I really haven't got a clue about this one.
We all did a lot of sessions for Derek so it would appear that the B side at least was something Chas and I were involved with.
A new mystery,Who Is Weaghell?
Best regards
Mick

Mick, I'm documenting about Aylesbury Friars at the moment (official site sanctioned by the management so to speak). I think you played here with Strapps and Gillan - have you memories of the place I could use on the website?

Cheers
Mike

Hello, Mick, your great playing inspired me to become a drummer. You're the one of the best rock drummers, in my opinion. Capitalizing on a chance I would like to ask some questions:
What kind of sticks do you use? What exact characteristics a bassist should have to be a comfortable for you to play with? Do you like any modern drummers or bass-players? What are their names?
Thanks a million for all! Take care & keep on playing good music!!
Sincerely Yours,
Alex Vinogradov

mick:
Hi Alex
Sorry it's taken so long to reply to your kind words.
In answer to your questions:
I use 5B sticks now and most good bass players I find easy to work with as long as they use their ears. There are some great new players out there, too many to name really.
Great to hear from you.
Mick

Hi Mick
Happy new Year
All the best for 2008

Was the Crescents one of the bands in which Jeff Beck started out?
Was the lead vocalist Johnny Dell previous singer for the Deltones?

regards

mick:
Hi Christian,
Thanks for the message and all the best to you for the year. In answer to the questions, I need to talk to Harvey Hinsley to get the facts for you. I'll post them when I have them.
Cheers.

mick:
Hi Christian

I've spoken to Harvey and the info is :
Jeff never played with the Crescents and Johnny Dell was the singer with the Deltones.
Hope this Helps you.

Hello Mick Underwood,

Many thanks for your contributions at Quatermass and Strapps.

Today I'm still loving these albums.
Other drummers I like are Steve Broughton and Aynsley Dunbar.

Your on the right way now with Blues Rock! I wish you a lot of success

mick:
Thanks for the message Klazinus,

You can't go far wrong with those drummers.

Hello Mick
I have cutting from Melody Maker (Jan. 1971) which says that Quatermass were "due to score the music for a new movie called 'Friday's Child'" and that the band would be "seen in the movie during sequences shot in a 'beat club'". Did this film actually make it to release? - and did you really feature in it!
Regards
Martin M.

mick:
Hi Martin

Thanks for the question.

I don't know what happened to that one!
The band weren't involved and I have no idea whether the picture was actually made.

mick:
Hi Paul
